While many of us continue to have careers in high gear, some are finding ways to share knowledge and maybe financial support, with our children. Plastic surgeon Steve Kurland, Worcester, Mass., an accomplished pianist, used to have his son, Scott, accompany him on the drums. Now Scott, a Wharton grad, lets Dad accompany him with some investment money and sage advice at the Boston franchise of Bloch Trading, a Houston-based company that permits shareholders to do their own NASDAQ buying and selling without using New York Stock Exchange brokers. Steve has been in contact with Tom Clephane and Steve Guthrie, the latter whom he has known since high school in Mamaroneck, N.Y.
