A few career tidbits to pass along this month: Dale Parker, an attorney with the St. Petersburg, Fla., firm of Fowler, White, Gillen, Boggs, Villareal, and Banker, has been approved by the Florida Bar as a board-certified civil trial lawyer. He is a member of the casualty department and concentrates on insurance defense. Dale graduated with honors from the University of Florida College of Law.
Yantra Corporation of Acton, Mass., has named John Kirk its vice president of marketing. Before joining Yantra, John was national sales manager at Talus Corp. and a country manager with Parametric Technology. In his new position John directs the marketing communications and alliances departments and is responsible for developing revenue-driven marketingstrategies. Yantra is a leading developer and marketer of high-quality software products and services that address the logistics challenges of retail compliance, value-added services, and cost containment John has an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School at Northwestern.
Hard up for news this month, I asked John and Cheryl Walsh to come to my rescue, and they had a lot to report. They moved into their beautiful newly built home in Wenham, Mass., in February. John works at Brown Brothers Harriman in Boston, and Cheryl works one day a week for Head Start in Charlestown, although her fulltime employers are daughters Megan 6 and Sarah 3. Their third child is expected on St. Patrick's Day, which sounds pretty lucky to me.
Cheryl had recently spoken with Sue Axelrod Emanuel, one of the very few among us who have been with the same company since graduation. Sue began her career at Paine Webber in 1987 in the systems analyst training program and has now been recently promoted to the director of that training program. This new post will bring her on recruiting trips to Hanover, which is a pretty nice perk. Sue lives in Summit, N.J., with husband Ed and children Elizabeth 3 1/2 and John 11/2.
John and Cheryl had also just had a visit from Andy McGrath and Conrad Smith, who were spending some vacation time in Boston. Andy had just arrived back in the states after spending a year in Milan teaching English. He had the opportunity to travel all over Europe with friends and is now back at his former teaching position in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Conrad manages six mutual funds for the Lutheran Brotherhood Insurance Co. in Minneapolis.
