The San Francisco engagement highlight special of the '93 column! "Greetings from San Francisco!" writes Cathleen Millet. "I'm excited to announce that Chad Thomas and I got engaged over Memorial Day Weekend. Arguably the longest dating Dartmouth couple (we started dating the first day of Freshman Weekyes, that's September 12,1993!), we are (finally) planning a July 1998 wedding in the Napa Valley. Chad proposed in Yosemite, "at the top of El Capitan after a grueling six-hour hike to the top. Overlooking the valley and with Half Dome in the background. Chad popped the question, ring in hand. He even brought along a celebratory botde of wine! And yes, even after seven and one-halfyears, I was TOTALLY surprised by the proposal. And I'm still wondering what would have happened if I hadn't made it to the top, or what would have happened had Isaid 'no' keep in mind that it was several thousand feet straight down!" Cathleen (cathleenm@mysoftware.com) lives in San Francisco and works as a product manager for a consumer software company in Palo Alto. She helps to develop productivity software for small businesses. Chad (thomas_chad@gsb.stanford.edu) is busy wrapping up his second year at Stanford Business School, yet manages to golf, bike, and mountaineer. Last summer Cathleen and Chad hiked in Whistler, B.C., and sea Kayaked in the San Juan Islands.
Dana MacLaurin (danamac@leland.stanford.edu) is also a student at the Stanford Graduate School of Business; "I'm currently working toward my Ph.D. in business (what would you do with that? become a business school professor)." Her fiancee, Jake Nunn '92, is a second-year MBA student at Stanford. Dana and Jake will be wed in Columbus, Ohio, on June 27 "one week after the '93 reunion, but I definitely plan to make it to Hanover and hope to see lots of Dartmouth friends there!" (In case you are keeping score, other Dartmouth folks at Stanford's GSB include Tracey Pettengill,Steve Rodgers, Todd Sisitsky Pete Chung '92, and Vic Parker '91. Although she doesn't attend Stanford, Christy Neuman Richardson also lives in the Bay Area. She has an investment management job in Palo Alto and a new dog.
Dana included some information on two weddings from last summer. "In May Terri Tarrant married a med school classmate, Don Hegland in Gainesville, Fla. Terri and Don just returned to med school at the University of Florida after two years of research at NIH in Bethesda, Md. Then in September Kate Wheeler married Andy Snell at her childhood summer camp in Maine. Kate just graduated from Columbia Med and started her internship in internal medicine at the University of Alabama, Birmingham; Andy runs his business from their new house and travels a lot. There were tons of Dartmouth folks at both weddings, including Janet Staab (working in equity research and sales in Boston), Carolyn Riley Chapman (doctoral candidate in biochemistry at Harvard Medical School), Meredith Bryant (lawyer clerking for a federal judge in New Jersey), and Sabrina Pagani (just started architecture school at Harvard)."
That's all for now. See you soon.
