Happy New Year to all classmates, and welcome to the 72nd year since our graduation! It's a sad duty to report the loss of . three more classmates. Hinsdale Smith died on December 6, 1997, in Suffield, Conn. The death of Malcolm Lewis Jones occurred at his home in Aurora, I11., on January 6,1998. And January 9 in this newyear brought the death of Henry Andretta in San Diego, Calif.

Now that the winter term has opened on our old familiar campus, the tempo on the Green—and elsewhere has quickened to its more normal and vibrant pace.
