Greetings, one and all. Before I get down to class business, I would just like to state—for the record that despite the fact that we share first names, no, I did not know the other now-famous White House intern, Monica Lewinsky. Hence, don't expect to see me called before any grand juries to testify on the latest Washington scandal, even though I, too, once freely roamed the corridors of the West Wing of the Clinton White House....

Anyway, on to the latest '96 news. I have a letter sitting here on my desk from Heather Halstead that is long overdue for publication (I'm afraid it got delayed somewhere between Texas and England—sorry about that). Heather reports that after graduating last June with the '97s, she, Todd Parment '95, and Justin Wells '95 founded a new non-profit company called Reach the World. The company's mission is to develop interactive web-based educational resources, and its first major project is a round-the- world circumnavigation aboard a sailboat called Makulu II. This is far from a small undertaking: they'll be sailing 27,000 miles over the next 16 months, stopping at various ports along the way to do historical and cultural research, and then sending the information and images they collect back to a central website. Interested? Check out what they've found at .

Heather also sent an update on Lara Burgel, who is living and working in Bend, Ore., and Adam Cappio, who married Gretchen Freeman '95 last August at a fabulous wedding in South Carolina, where the guests included more than 20 Dartmouth alums and "much merriment" on the beaches and trails of Kiawah Island.

While I'm on the subject of weddings, I am also happy to report that Beth Kopplin married Brian Gilpin '97 on June 14, 1997, in Newport, R.I. Included in the wedding party were Chris Buder '97, Alison Japikse, Jay Bruce, Michele Baez, and Asa Palmer '98, while Rick Fasani, Sarah Hobson '97, Esther Lee '97, Peter Barnes '98, and Aaron Russo '98 also took part in the ceremony. Chris Clay was also in attendance, along with a host of other Dartmouth faculty and alums. After the wedding Beth and Brian honeymooned in St. Thomas and then headed off to Portugal, where Brian took up an offer to play professional basketball. They lived until this past December in a small city north of Lisbon called Torres Vedras, where Brian very much enjoyed playing ball and Beth had a fabulous time soaking up the culture and taking language courses at a nearby school.

Finally, I have had a request from a fellow classmate does anyone know how to get in touch with Dave Labrador? If so, please let me know so I can pass along the info. Many thanks.

That's all for the moment. Got any news? I now have check it out two e-mail addresses, so there's no excuse not to write. Drop me a line....
