You have a guest writer this month. Early this winter, Edand Mary Grady left die ice and cold of the Northeast and headed south, their ultimate destination to visit grandchildren in Alvin, Texas. Their son Sean died last fall, leaving his wife, Nicole, and their children James 13, Patrick 11, and Amy 6. Sean had worked for Boeing in the NASA program and had been recognized by the astronauts the prior year with a "Silver Snoopy" for his extensive knowledge of the quality assurance discipline. Mary and Ed, our deep sympathy is with you and the family.

A number of us visited Alumni Hall on November 21, when Ham Chase, amidst the presence of his charming family, received the Alumni Award in recognition of his many years of outstanding service to Dartmouth. Attending were Bob Bach and George Bingham, Andy McCulloch, BillHallager, Townes Harris, JohnTrethaway, and their wives. The honor is well earned and we are proud of you, Ham.

Our 50th Reunion chairman, BobKirsch, is starring on a new adventure with his talented wife, Abby. They are currently successfully providing catering services at the beautiful Tappan Hill in Tarrytown and at the Bronx Botanical Garden. Starting in September, they will expand to banquet facilities under construction at the Chelsea Piers in Manhattan. Chelsea Piers is an incredible sports facility covering six blocks (17th to 23rd Street) on the Hudson River. They are excited about the new facility at Pier 60, which will cater to parties, weddings, and conferences for up to 1,500 people. Working with them is their son Jim. It is no wonder that our reunion was fun and went so smoothly. Good luck, Bob and Abby.

The ice storms that hit northern New England in January proved that Eleazar Wheelock knew where to locate his small college. Andy reports that there was no serious damage in Hanover, while devastation was overwhelming in New London only 20 miles away. My hometown of Lincoln also lucked out.
