60th Reunion June 12-14, 2000.
If you didn't know, Bill Sinclair was married in 1998. After a trip to Glacier Bay, Alaska, they were planning a trip to Central and South America in 1999. We hope to hear more about that.
John Baybutt wrote recalling the good times playing the piano in Commons. Then he tells that during WWII, "We sneaked a piano aboard my ship in San Diego on our way to the forward area, and of course, I had a fine time with it. It was on the tank deck for anyone to use. We got into a typhoon on our way to Okinawa and the instrument broke loose, becoming a menace among personnel and a couple hundred tons of arms. Sadly, it became damaged and had to be lowered over the side in a quiet and somber ceremony."
Lorraine and Sam Williams attended the opening of the Rauner Special Collections Library in Webster Hall. Sounds like something we should all see. Remember all the productions staged in Webster Hall during our years on campus. 60th Reunion June 12-14, 2000.
Art French wrote to Stet Whitcher when paying his class dues. "Enjoying retirement. I decided in '79 it was about time to retire from Henry Ford Hospital. Have 2.5 acres of woods and wildflowers on the Huron River. Lots of yard work but manage one or two trips a year visiting kids in Norway, Montana, Alaska, Oregon, and Utah. Have a little arthritis here and there but still play a fair game of golf."
From Cliff Falkenau we hear that he had to move into a retirement community in Annapolis, Md., and then gave up sailing because of a heart attack. However, Cliff is still active as an environmental consultant and other community activities. Hope to hear more about his trip to Scandanavian capitals and his daughters' retirement from the navy.
