It may seem early, but time flies faster than it used to, and your class officers are already working the 25th Reunion. The dates have been set: June 14-16, 2001. Judy Burrows Csatari and Julie Miller Shepard kindly volunteered their time as reunion co-chairs. Scott Simons has been anointed chair of the venue and architectural design subcommittee, which I think has something to do with the tents. Class president Michael Feasel, Sandy Helve, Brewer Doran, and Melanie Matte have been busy "interfacing" with the College and the Alumni Fund.
I highly recommend the Reunion. The College and your class officers do a great job of providing food, drink, and the venue. There are dinners, 'tails, receptions, and such on the agenda, but also plenty of unstructured time to catch up with old friends and stroll around Hanover. There are a wealth of activities for kids (supervised! yes! free childcare!).
The College considers the 25th to be a "big" reunion. We not only get it on the correct year, but have the place to ourselves—none of those pesky '77s and '78s will be around drinking up the good stuff and playing old Bee Gees tunes all night. We will have a Reunion Book, similar to the Freshman Book but with better pictures. Sara Hunter is handling the publication. If anyone is interested in helping with the Reunion, be assured your assistance will be most greatly appreciated. Drop a note to Michael Feasel at .
And now, back to the news. KatherineWeeks was shamed into sending a note by her father, John Weeks '44, who threatened to write if she didn't. Katy just received a master's degree in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell (UML), "which meant going back to school after more than 15 years of being out in the real world. Of course, the undergraduate degree in music from Dartmouth didn't help a whole lot, so I had to get a B.S.C.E. at UML. It was lots of fun!
"Paul Rahmeier, who was the College chaplain, is now dean of academic affairs at UML, and we had some nice talks about Dartmouth. My husband, Dave Kay (WPI '73), was incredibly supportive throughout the 4 1/2 years, as were Dad and the rest of the Weeks family. This fall I'll be presenting a paper on the topic of my thesis at the Conference on Contaminated Soils and Water in Amherst." Katy works for an environmental consulting firm, and sees "a lot of Jordan Young and his family, Margy (Yale '7B) and their kids Meg and Zac. Dave, Margy, and Jordan are authors in the ForDummies series. You may have seen Dave's name on such notable books as Word-perfectfor Windows for Dummies." Somewhere in her copious free time, I understand, Katy also earned an M.B.A. from Boston University.
The class webpage is running again, courtesy of much hard work by Brewer Doran. You can access it through the College webpage or directly via . Last, the Dartmouth Lawyers Association is meeting in Aspen next Feb. 18-21. All of the many classmates who are DLA members are encouraged to attend, with or without kids and spouses. It would be nice to have someone attend who can beat JimDraudt in the NASTAR race.
Please send me news of yourself.
