The end of the 1900s is upon us. Have you sent in an update this century to your friendly class secretary? I was happy to hear from Clent Boudreaux, who e-mailed me recently. Clent currently resides in Phoenix. He lived in Chicago for two years and worked as a criminal intelligence analyst after Dartmouth. He met his wife, Soula, while acting in a theater production there. Soula and Clent married in September 1996. Classmates Jim Creaser and MelanieBowen were in the wedding party. Clent reports that Jim has since moved to Detroit and is also married. Melanie is with the State Department, living in the Dominican Republic. Clent is now at a programming job with The Dial Corp. (yep, the soap) and has a daughter, Alexa, who was born in October 1998. Both Clent and his wife are still acting in their spare time.
I also heard from Greg Chapman, who wrote in to announce his daughter's birth. Greg and his wife, Erin, are the proud parents of Mackenzie McCann Chapman born July 27, 1999, weighing 7 pounds, 10 ounces. The Chapman family currently lives in Singapore, where Greg has helped to develop operations in Asia for the past two years for Onyx Software. They should be back in the Seattle area in November and would love to get in touch with their Dartmouth friends, so drop Greg a line if you are in Seattle at gregc@onyx.com.
Back in August, an alumnus who attended a production of Miss Saigon in Manhattan noticed that Darren Postel performed an understudy role and was thoughtful to bring it to my attention. I don't know if the same production is still running, but if it is, be sure to catch Darren on Broadway. Good luck with the show, Darren.
Congratulations are due to two recent professional school graduates. ReganStanger received her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School this past May. She will be doing her residency at the Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Conn. Regan was the secretary of the Student Government Association in medical school and recently returned from an international health program in Nepal. SerenaBucknam Varley received her juris doctor degree magna cum laude from Boston University School of Law this May.
Finally, I just got off the phone with Jennifer Schwartz, who has just had a job change. Jen began a federal clerkship with the Honorable Denny Chin of the Southern District of New York in August after working for the law firm of Willkie, Farr & Gallagher in New York. Jen is enjoying clerking and is getting invaluable experience writing opinions and being behind the scenes at the courthouse.
Send me your Y2K New Year's stories. I would like to have a column dedicated to what the class of 1993 did to celebrate Y2K. Happy holidays and Happy New Year to all.
