It is hard to believe that this is the last column of Y2K. I hope it was a prosperous and exciting one for all of you. Please let the rest of the class know what you are up to by sending an update to Craig Sakowitz, our new class Webmaster, at craig.sakowitz@alum. dartmouth.org. Many thanks go out to Rich Yeung, who had a great tenure as our past class Webmaster and turned the reigns over to Craig this summer. If you haven't checked it out already, our class Web site may be found at www.dartmouth.edu/alumni/classes/93.
On July 28 Sue Walther King married Joe King at a lovely outdoor ceremony near her family's house on Lake Pleasant. I was honored to attend the wedding, which was a wonderful event. It was also great to see Donna Mulvihill and Jennifer Schwartz from New York City, and Tria Katz who came out from L.A. There were several other Dartmouth alumni in attendance including, of course, our host for the evening and the brides father, Tom Walther '61. Sue and Joe live in Arlington, Virginia, where Sue works for Micro Strategy and Joe works for Qwest Communications. The newlyweds honeymooned in the Caribbean and in Ireland.
While in New Hampshire, Donna Jen, Tria and I enjoyed an afternoon on campus. We were amazed at the new Collis Center and the presence of The Gap on Main Street, but campus otherwise looked exactly as it did eight years ago as we were getting ready to enter our senior year. Donna and Jen are both attorneys in New York. Donna is a litigation associate at Mayer, Brown & Piatt. You may find Donna running in Central Park training for her next marathon. Her latest 26-miler took place in Prague last year. Jen is finishing up an 18-month clerkship with the Hon. Denny Chin in the Southern District of New York. Jen will be moving to Washington, D.C., to practice at Covington & Burling this winter. If any of you have seen the show FamilyLaw, you may have seen Tria as the foreperson of the jury. Tria is pursuing her acting career in L.A. She has acted on stage and in her own film projects, and attended a drama program in New York last year. Keep an eye out for Tria in the next episode of your favorite television drama.
All the way from London, came news from Sanjeev Dugar that he and his wife, Nisha, recently celebrated the birth of their daughter Sanjana. Sanjeev earned an M.B.A. from Insead (France) and is now working for Glaxo Smith Kline in the commercial strategy department.
Speaking of new babies, Josh Bers writes in to announce the birth of his daughter Tali Katharine Bers. Tali was born on May 15, weighing in at 7 pounds, 5 ounces. Josh and his wife, Marina, are both enjoying Talis "daily progress in conquering gravity and mastering sleeping." Josh sent in a wonderful picture of the Bers family that I will be forwarding on to Craig for posting on the class Web site.
I recently heard from Myrna Laine, who is excited to be moving to Ft. Lauderdale just in time to escape another cold Boston winter. Myrna recently left her job as an Equity Analyst at Adams, Harkness & Hill, a Boston-based investment bank, to join Breakaway Solutions, an Internet professional services firm. At Breakaway Myrna works as a managing consultant and financial adviser and loves her new job.
Finally John Stanton, an attorney at the D.C. office of Howrey, Simon, Arnold & White, writes in to announce his engagement to Lara Schwartz (Brown '93) John and Lara met while clerking on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit. In true legal fashion, their respective judges are researching whether there is any precedent for the engagement of two clerks in the 6th Circuit. The wedding is scheduled for June 2001. Congratulations to all our newlyweds, newly engaged, new parents and newly employed. Keep up with the good news. I'm just an e-mail away.
