How about a party for 61 good friends? That's exactly what the class had last October at the mini-reunion tied in with the football game against Yale. Among the early arrivals at Dowds' Inn on Thursday were Sue and TomBlankley, Barbara and Ted Arico, Ginny and Sid Bull, Pat and Art Henderson. The men were out on the golf course early the next morning, and we found the wives breakfasting together. Lois and Frank Faruolo were golfing, too, but in Killington rather than Hanover. They were planning a trip last fall to L.A. to pick up one son, and then all were to fly to Tucson to visit with another. Trish and Gardie Bridge were also among the earliest arrivals, all the way from Cape Cod.

Still traveling are Pat and Stu Finch, who spent last June in Burma with one of their four children and have been all over the world; Stu has been to Ukraine three times in the last year. The Aricos just got a computer, and Barbara said it took five tries to send an e-mail to their son in Saudi Arabia. Gerry and Bob Searles came from 11 minutes away and were soon to head to Nova Scotia to visit her family. Bob, incidentally, retired all the way back in 1974. Any of you been retired longer than that?

That's only the start. Others included Anne and Jim Erwin, down from Maine; from New Jersey came Laura and JimRandall, Dotty and Dutch Schaefer; Kathie and Buzz Cassidy out of Pennsylvania; Jane and Dave Heald, Shirley and Dick Burns, Millie and JackCorwith, Carolmae and Bob Encherman, Barbara and Wally Farr, Ruth and BudHummel, Mary and Bob Kirk, Judy and Charles Weinberg were the rest of the New Hampshire contingent; from Massachusetts came Lila and Dick Lee, Vicki and Stam Stambaugh; Ruth and Proc Page were over from Vermont along with Jane and Dave Sargent; Joanna and Leo Caproni, and Jon Mendes with Shirley Kent were up from New York. Sidnee and Bill Lohman were up from Connecticut; June and Wayne Martz from Delaware; and Lolly and Herb Swain from Rhode Island.

Look the list over carefully. Maybe this year you can join them in the fun at the mini. Lots of golf, tennis, good food, and great people. If you'd like to make a real break, join the festivities at the magnificent Balsams resort in upper New Hampshire Oct. 5,6 and 7, to be followed Oct. 8,9 and 10 at Lake Morey and the Lehigh football game.

Among the highlights.of last year's party were dinner in Alumni Hall Friday night followed by Dartmouth Night on the green, with the largest parade, biggest crowd and smallest bonfire I'd ever seen at these events. The best was Saturday lunch prior to the game at the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority house; the ladies were terrific. That evening we had dinner at Dowds' with entertainment by Fred Haas and his wife, Sabrina, and they were, as usual, wonderful. A tip of the hat to acting chair Jack Corwith, filling in for HuntAllison, and to our ever-watchful president, Dave Heald.

Baker Library has reported that the 26 classmates whose obituaries have appeared in the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine in 1996, 1997, and 1998 will be memorialized by the purchase of a like number of books in the class's program to remember them. I have the list—if you'd like a copy, just drop me a note.
