Em White has put a number of nautical miles under the keel. Early this year he participated in an expeditionary cruise out of Nome, Alaska, north to the Arctic ice pack and back to the Alaskan peninsula with stops in Siberia, the Pribloff Islands, Dutch Harbor, and Kodiak Island. The country is breathta kingly beautiful and heavily populated with swimming, flying, and land-traveling wildlife. He remembers the grizzlies in particular. A few years ago, he took a trip through part of the Erie Canal (which goes through Pittsford, N.Y.) on a power boat, and he is looking forward to chartering in the Greek Islands next year.

The death of Dick Rohrbach has produced notes from a number of his friends. For example, Doug Corderman ticked off some of Dick's legendary incidents, which "all add up to a rich and rewarding lifewhich ended far too soon." Doug used to enjoy windsurfing, but now he "doesn't have time." He runs every day and does a lot of biking. This is good training for triathlons in which he competes. He and his wife, Joan, ride their horses regularly. He participates in 65-and-older basketball. His team plays games all over the Midwest from the home court in Chesterfield, Mo. He plays golf and tennis, and he competes in about six or eight different Senior Olympic Games every year. Healthy? You bet. Quel homme.
A 1 Reich sent a copy of Russian Proverbs, a breath takingly illustrated tribute to Russian Language Professor Nadezda Timofeyevna Koroton. The work is a combined effort of A1 and many others who admired and were instructed by Professor Koroton. The proverbs are captivating, and the narrative pieces written by friends, colleagues, admirers, and graduates tell much about the Russian tumult and the grit that brought Nadezda to the ordeal of leaving mother Russia and coming to Hanover. From our class, A1, Dick Ellis,Angus Russell, and George Sherman contributed short essays. The following contributed financially: Jim Churchill,Bill Conway, Dick Ellis, HarryGoldsmith, Dan Hall, Ray Jankowich,Wey Lindquist,Al Reich, Angus Russell, and George Sherman.
