As the winter slowly comes to an end so, alas, does my co-authorship of this, our class column. This is my last column before our "Chance of a Lifetime" reunion provides the opportunity for one or more of you to take over. I would like to thank all of you who took the time to send in your news. We (Corinne Steve and I) never missed a column and tried with each and every issue to mention as many names and as much news as we possibly could given our spatial limitations. We tried to include those classmates who had not yet been mentioned in the AlumniMagazine. I urge those of you whom we have not heard from to please contact our new post-reunion class secretaries with details of your exploits and those exciting events of your lives that we would all like to share!

Our classmate Dr. Daniel Geschwind is the director of the Center for Autism Research and Treatment at UCIA and has been in the news recently regarding that complex brain disorder. His team of researchers, along with those from other institutions, has found two new potential genetic links that may indicate a predisposition to this disease. The study, which took five years, scanned the worlds largest collection of DNA samples from families affected by autism. His teams findings indicate that autism is an extremely diverse condition and that it has numerous genetic origins rather than a single or a few major causes.

The Seattle Seahawks have named John Idzik to the role of vice president of football administration. He had spent the last three seasons as senior director of football operations for the Arizona Cardinals. With Seattle John will oversee player negotiations, the teams compliance with the NFL salary cap and several aspects of the day-to-day football operations. John Hastings' youngest son, Andrew, is an eighth-grader at Cardigan Mountain School in Canaan, New Hampshire (a mere 20 minutes from Dartmouth). John visited him several times and has enjoyed being able to visit Dartmouth at the same time.

Cathy Judd-Stein hosted a mini-reunion at her home recently. Sherri Carroll Oberg—our class s newest candidate for trustee—was present, as was Beth Haffenreffer Scholle. One of our few class of'82 couples—Kent and Kim Smith Quirk—shared their Dartmouth memories. Mary Thompson Renner and Amy Warner came together. Betsy Leggat, Mary Conway and Jim Vahey took a break from reunion duties and attended. So did Matt Hoffman, Ben Tongue and Mike Sapers. We all know what an awesome class the class of 1982 is. We all now have a tremendous opportunity to show that to the rest of the College! Eric Miller and Jim Vahey have put together an amazing weekend for our 25th reunion. There will be a Mexican fiesta, fireworks on the golf course, lunch by the river, a dinner on Baker lawn. The "Extravaganza on the Midway" Saturday afternoon will have games for the kids, including Bungee jumping, Bungee basketball, human foosball, an obstacle course, a moon jump for toddlers, a giant slide, speed pitch, miniature golf and more, rain or shine! Babysitting is available. Canoeing, kayaking, wall climbing, biking and swimming are also on the program. To cap it all off there will be dancing in the tent on Saturday night.

Our tent and dorms will be on Tuck Mall, so will be central to all activities. Our goal is 400 classmates, which will break all reunion attendance records, and our class is the one to do it! We have received commitment from 250 classmates. Come one come all to the "Chance of a Lifetime" to reconnect, relax, rejuvenate and, yes, after all these activities, maybe even to reack I look forward to seeing you all in Hanover June 14 to celebrate being a part of this record-breaking class.
