Best job of the month award goes to Mike Montgomery, CEO of Sega Gameworks, which has developed a string of cutting-edge video and computer entertainment centers. I've been to the Seattle Gameworks with my wife's nephews and can attest that the games are wild, truly wild, and tremendous fan. Not only that, but the french fries are great. Mike, Nicole, and son Colyn "have become suburbanites in Pacific Palisades, Calif., but still take off for France every year." Nicole and Colyn are "suffering the craziness of my running a startup" with good humor. Mike is opening new Gameworks centers in Detroit, Anaheim, and Miami this year. Look for the one nearest you! Mike's address is .
Brewer Doran is working with the College's VOX e-mail system and is encouraged by the lively interest shown by our class. ("I got an e-mail from the College asking what I'd done to get a whole bunch of '76ers suddenly signed up.) She is taking over our class's Internet and e-mail tasks, including updating the class's e-mail list. If you aren't on the e-mail list, or if your address has changed, drop a note to Brewer at .
Greg Payne recently left his position as senior VP for legal and business affairs of DIC Entertainment, part of The Walt Disney Co., to set up his own firm. Greg was with Disney for 12 years and is continuing to consult for Disney and ABC. He has been in touch with our fastest classmate, Rich Nichols, who practices law in San Francisco. Greg's two kids, Katherine (7) and Douglas (5), "live with their mother back in New Jersey. I have remarried, and my wife, Jo, is British, so we spend a fair amount of time traveling: either back East to see my kids or to England to see her family. I've gotten good at driving on the left." Greg reports that his golf game is "terrible," which means that it is better than mine. Anyone with golf tips can reach Greg at .
Tom "The Source" Sorci is running the Learning Center at Darlington School in Rome, Ga. Tom is "still reeling from the fact that my daughter turned down Dartmouth to attend Harvard." Anyone wanting to commiserate can reach The Source at .
Sandy Helve is our class's "head agent," and may be knocking on your door for contributions to the Alumni Fund and help with the 25th Reunion. Sandy is working very hard on these projects and recently hosted a meeting at her house in Nashua for other involved classmates. Be generous with your time (and checkbook)! Sandy may be reached at .
Last bits and pieces: Stephen Bell is running the class newsletter and would appreciate news and blues sent to . Nils Rosenquest has moved from the sedate sport of fencing into the only slightly less dangerous hobby of flying small planes. Nils attended the Hastings College of Law and is practicing in San Francisco. And John Hagelin, bless his soul, is starting up his year 2000 presidential campaign. John got nearly one million votes in 1996 as the candidate of the Natural Law Party. He earned a Ph.D. in particle physics from Harvard and heads the physics department at Maharishi University in Fairfield, lowa. MikeChiarella's father, John, was thrown off Dennis Conner's Whitbread Challenge yacht in Cape Town, after an unpleasant incident involving lasagne.
