First, my apologies to LarryWeltin, who e-mailed, "You can call me Ray; you can call me Jay. You can call me Ray Jay, but you don't have to call me Wiltin!" Larry, honest to goodness, it was a case of failing to edit, not a Viagra joke at your expense.
Nate Palmer sent a note that he and Suzy had a big Thanksgiving at home with their two children and spouses, five grandchildren (all 7 and under), and Suzy's mom. At Christmas they took off from Barrington and visited their kids in Seattle before heading back across the country to Rye Beach, N.H., to visit their other family—the family that will add another granddaughter for them in April. They got back from their jaunt the day after Chicago's second biggest snowstorm ever.
That storm arrived in Indiana at the same time our students were due back from winter vacation, and I now have the distinction of being the first head in 104 years to cancel classes at this boarding school.
After more years than anyone can recall, Ted Kleinman has stepped down as head agent for the class of '59 Tuck Annual Fund. It takes two classmates to fill his shoes, and Ed Burns and Pete Heegaard have stepped into the role. With the Tuck Centennial coming, all of us who went to Tuck can expect to hear from them early and often.
Dave Pratt and Cheryl moved from Canandaigua, N.Y., to Broomfield, Colo., in November to be nearer children and grandchildren (and to ski a bit more). They are living in their condo but building in the Boulder area and were having some difficulties with the contractor and his subs. Dave says it is all getting straightened out, thanks to calls he made to Joe Blake and Kit Cowperthwaite.
Remember the Class Notes column about the class website and the opportunity for house swaps? Well, LarryHampton's Exchange Program is alive and well (barely, he reports). Larry is taking Rob Goodell's house in British Columbia and giving Rob three weeks in his villa in Algarve, Portugal. Paul Wysard is offering a three-week stay in Makawaoo (on Maui) as an exchange for "Western or Eastern Canada, coastal Maine, England, continental Europe, Idaho, or maybe the Seattle area." John Armstrong is putting forth both an apartment at the Lyme Creamery outside Hanover and his home in Breckenridge, Colo., in exchange for "early spring or late fall abroad (England is high on his list), or winter months someplace warm, like a nice hideaway in the Caribbean." Finally, in addition to his villa in Algarve, Larry also is offering his apartment in Wimbledon, England.
So get on the net and the '58 website, get traveling, and send me a postcard so there is news to write.
