On March 3 a group of Dartmouth alumni convened in the New York board room of Wasserstein Perrella & Co. to speak with President James Wright. After casual mingling they took their seats and thanked Wright for taking time out of his busy schedule to meet with them. "Oh, it wasn't difficult for me," Wright replied. "After all, it's easy and convenient for me to go from 1 Tuck Drive to the Tuck School." During the 45 -minute meeting, while the alumni sat in New York, Wright spoke to them from the Alperin Room in Murdough Center in his first videoconference, sponsored by the Dartmouth Alumni Fund. Wright, whose crowded schedule didn't permit a trip to New York that day, nevertheless was quite visible and audible to the alumni on a large-screen television monitor. With a flat circular microphone on the table in front of him, Wright could also view the New York board room on a monitor. Wright spoke to the alumni mainly about the College's recent initiative on residential and social life.

He will meet more alums in person in Boston on May 7 to celebrate the Wearers of the Green, in Philadelphia on May II for a reception with that club, and with the Upper Valley Club on May 25 for dinner. For details, call the Alumni Relations Office toll-free at (888) 228-6068.
