Not sure about all this millennium stuff, 2000 or 2001, but this is the first effort you'll read in the year 2000—and I hope not the last. Have a bit of news about far-flung 1946ers. Gene Lucey has been living for the last year in Jacksonville, Fla. He lived in Rockville Centre, N.Y., for many years. Retired seven years ago from his metals business and joins lots of other part-time or yeararound residents of the Sunshine State. Which reminds me, spoke to president Buol Hirnnan just back from his Venice, Fla., digs. He wants me to announce to all you Florida people that on March 12 the class of 1975 is hosting an allday affair at Ponce De Leon Park in Punta Gorda, Fla., open to all '44s,'45s and '46s. You can call Buol in Florida after January and get the details. He's at (941) 485-5555. Talked to Phil Stedfast down in Norfolk, Va. Phil was long-time planning director for thet city. Retired 10 years ago. Had a bit of a setback last September but said he's doing fine now and Norfolk is surviving somehow without his services. Paul Davis out in Menlo Park, Calif. (I always thought that was in New Jersey.) Anyway, Paul's been out there for 40 years! Long way from Concord, N.H. Paul recently toured the British Isles and is now getting ready for a trip to Key West, Fla., and plans a trip to Egypt down the road. My how you all get around. He retired from research work back in 1986. Spoke with Dr. JimBoyes. He lives in the great metropolis of Waxhaw, N.C. Where's that? You could looki tup. Jim, long retired from his medical practice, keeps busy sculling—and that's a thing with a boat. He's recendy back from the Loire Valley in France, where he was on a biking safari. Is there nothing you '46ers don't do? Talked with Art O'Hara up in Somers, Conn. Art pretty much retired from his greeting card business; pretty much means only 15 percent of the time spent working. He'll be off shortly to Harbour Ridge, Fla., where he'll meet up with George Hopkins and Harvey White, winter residents of that place. Also got a call from Dale Armstrong down Naples, Fla., way. Dales says he has succumbed to the charms of Florida and is going to give up the home in Pittsburgh and stay in Florida. I think the real reason is that he just became president of his golf club. Finally, talked to Reg Pierce right after the Princeton-Dartmouth football game (and we won!). Said he had a big gathering at his inn to celebrate. Celebrants included Walt Snickenberger and Susan and Ray Dewees.
With sadness I must report the death of three more of our classmates: Benjamin F.Homan, Dr. Thomas R. Leech and Willard W. Prince. We extend our deepest sympathy to their families.
