Our 2002 mini-reunion has come and gone. John McClintock has reported it fully in his newsletter but I'll report it too in case you missed his letter. Ray Dewees and wife Susan hosted a cocktail party on Thursday evening and then adjourned to Pierces Inn for dinner and much conviviality. As previously reported Reg Pierce and Nancy have turned over the inn to his daughter, Cindy, and her husband, Bruce Lingelbach. Reg and Nancy joined us at the dinner table, though I detected Reg had the urge to play the genial host as he has done, and admirably all these years. Friday we had a lecture from Bruce Lingelbach all about skiing, a subject he knows very well. Friday night at the inn for dinner, followed by the parade at which many '46ers marched to Dartmouth Hall. Then the gigantic bonfire, which competed with a rather full snowstorm, with the fire emerging as the victor. Saturday a lecture by Sheila Culbert at our more formal dinner at the inn. She's an adjunct professor and senior assistant to the College president. Topicwas the College's role in the Civil War. Oh yes, there was a football game with the Harvards and—sad to relate—they won. Attending were Walt Snickenberger and Anne Neilson, Edwin and Ruth (Fitchet) Mead, Ed and Molly Scheu, Don and Ann Barr, Rosemary Marlette, Jean Engelhart, Milt and Lilla Cooper, Harold Barr, Ray and Susie Dewees, Bob and Jackie Kimball, Tom and Emilie Adams, Tom Gillaugh, Reg and Nancy Pierce, Whitey and Joanne Burnham and Chip and Judy Coleman, Walt did a super job running the mini and announced Don Barr has agreed to take over as mini chairperson. Yes, the class held a meeting and approved some things, which I'll report later. Some distress about how and if we can use moneys left in our book fund. I need to get more info on that and I will report on that also. I regret to advise that classmate Henry W. Smith died on September 27, 2002. We extend our sympathy to his family.
