Elliot Baritz still keeping busy working with the executive assistant program S.C.O.R.E. for domestic firms needing experienced managerial talent. He and Margie are still in Connecticut and also involved in dog obedience training (I wonder if they would be willing to extend some of their service to some of the '49ers who desperately need similar training?). They currendy have four golden retrievers residing at home and Elliot tells me that three of their four children, along with grandchildren, live nearby. While Elliot does the domestic work, his old roomie ReedParker is serving similar programs on an international scale, at this writing working in Bangkok. Jack Taylor is safely ensconced in Lexington, Mass., where he is treasurer of the golf club (and sporting a low handicap) and singing in a men's group that has five or six other Big Green members, including that Italian opera star Alfredo de la Wagner. Jack also has a 25-year record as a representative in the Lexington town meetings, where they are still ducking bullets after 224 years. Good time to remind everyone that the next mini-reunion is the first full weekend of October 5-7, starting with cocktails and dinner and a bash Friday night; lunch, football and dinner on Saturday; and Sunday brunch. This is a holiday weekend and a great time to come to Hanover. Mark those calendars and if you haven't come before, this is the time.

John Kent Cooley is back in the news with a recent speech in Hanover based on his book about Afghanistan. Very timely considering the news about arrests in Washington state and Vermont and other investigations of suspects plotting to bomb U.S. facilities. John's book pinpoints the consequences of training and arms supply by the United States back in the AfghanRussia conflict. For those '49ers not up to date with recent history or news reports, you will find that he has an entirely different interpretation of "getting bombed" than you remember from the dear old days.

Prez Burt Proom and Carol, visiting New Zealand, bumped into Irl Marshall and Barbara. First one to say "it's a small world" gets popped in the chops. I guess we forgot to tell Burt that for his five-year term he has to stay put in Connecticut to attend presidential duties. Take heed, Prez, you do not have the latitude to get away with things like your well-known counterpart in Washington. Baker Library has completed designating and plating books for all of our classmates who are deceased. Part of our class budget is dedicated to this worthy endeavor. For you '49ers who went on to Tuck, be advised that our 50th Reunion will be in 2001, 51 years later. This is part of the new math being taught in only the best business schools around the world. Spring is here. Rejoice! Come to Hanover. Try the aforementioned October 5.
