Charlie Dudley and Rip meet for lunch weekly at the Norwich Inn with a group of retirees, and from what I hear their discussions are lively and cover most any subject. As you cross the new Ledyard Bridge from Hanover to Norwich enough times you become used to the new design, the cement balls and even the traffic lights, and admit it isn't so bad after all. Many have even come right out to say it is quite a nice change! Charlie still runs his weekly Kendal Kaffee Hatch and is able to attract very interesting speakers for the hour-long sessions. Of course, the daily Klatch at the Hanover Inn is still going, to the delight of those who attend quite regularly. Many who return to Hanover for a visit drop in between 10-11 a.m.
Polly Chinlund (Ed) has had health problems over a period of time, and has now moved to Harvest Hill in Lebanon, a fine retirement care facility where Katie Black(Dick) also lives. Petey Foster (Frank) was also living there before she died. We occasionally see Ruth Brittan (Trunkie), and we saw Art Nighswander at a symphony concert recently. He looks good, and as we do, is enjoying all the special privileges of living in a college town and atmosphere.
There is no news to report from outside of our area, but we are still optimistic about hearing from classmates as well as widows.
Rip adds: "With fingerprints and such-like schemes And other features they've desired The politicians meet their dreams And have a gun that can't be fired."
