Pinky Corron and cohort Needle Allen, with wives and a brace of youngsters each, are taking a vacation weekend in Washington, D. C., this week. While ostensibly a"pleasure" trip, there's reason to suspect, knowing their political leanings and theirplans to meet with Republican Rep. ClarkMacGregor and barrister Max Edwards, thatthey'd like to foment a movement to makethe New Frontier JFK's Last Frontier.
The Premier Microwave Corporation has announced the election of a new member to its board of directors. We agree that the company has made a fine choice, for he is Bill McElnea. Bill is a partner in the Wall Street investment banking firm of Van Alstyne, Noel & Co., and he holds directorships in several other companies, including L. E. Waterman Pen Co., Ltd., Atlas Sewing Centers, Inc., Montrose Chemical Co., and Air Control Products, Inc., to name just a few. Bill and his wife Jane, together with their son Jeffrey Kent, 12, live in Cos Cob, Conn.
When in N. Y. for a brief visit a few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of making Pink late for dinner and almost missing my plane as we refought the battles of Waikiki and Hanover in the Biltmore Bar. Also had the pleasure of running into Jerry Brody as he was leaving his Hawaiian Room restaurant at the Lexington Hotel.
Kindly Ben Jones sent me a clipping from an Indianapolis paper showing Yale Coach Joe Vancisin going over scouting reports on the Butler squad with old team-mate BobMyers. Kindly Ben was unkind enough to note on the margin "Later - Butler 71, Yale 64." A couple of times a week when I'm in town I run into their old running mate Jim Briggs who like a John Marquand character lunches at the same restaurant, same table, and same seat each day.
It's not too often these days that we have the pleasure of reporting a wedding, and extend best wishes to Carl Eldridge and his bride, the former Christina Jansen. They were married on Christmas Eve in Rockville Center, L. I. Carl is with the New York law firm of Coudert Brothers.
Bill McElnea received a nice note from Candy (Mrs. Lt. Comdr. Charles E.) McDowell along with the class dues. She writes, "Charles' new billet as the legal officer on the staff of the Commander Service Force Pacific Fleet finds us in Navy quarters at McGrew Pt. near Honolulu, Hawaii, and this is the most. We expect to be here three years. If. there are any other '44's headed this Way who take bourbon with their pineapple juice, stop in!"
Lee Mantle apparently couldn't find enough action in L.A., now makes Las Vegas his home. And Dick Lesser has been sucked into the maelstrom of metropolitan New York and is currently living in Larchmont. Showing some sensible judgment, Renshaw Smith has elected to make Miami, Fla., his home.
For years I've known this would eventually happen; where I still have 600 words to write and just can't think of a single thing to say ...except, "my apologies."
