We drove to Fair Haven, Vermont, to call on Ed Carpenter in late spring, and on our way enjoyed watching skiers with still enough snow to ski Pico. Ed's wife died around Thanksgiving, but he still lives in the house they had built years ago with green and pink slate blocks mined in the family quarry. The home is most interesting, filled with antiques and many of Frances's paintings. Ed treated us to lunch at his favorite restaurant in town, and we all enjoyed our visit. He is well and still enjoys driving his car.
A welcome note from Herb Bissell reminiscing about the 70th, and that he and Marge Wood are well and enjoying life in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Joyce Vincent wrote us of Nicks death in March. He played tennis until reaching 90. They had hoped to make it to our 70 th reunion, but his Parkinsons disease gradually made it impossible. We had enjoyed being with them at earlier reunions. Dick Eberline's wife, Mary, died in May following an early April stroke. She lived her life as a volunteer extraordinaire in the Rochester, Michigan, community. We are saddened to lose these friends and extend our love to their families.
Rip says, "Having highly resolved to be humble There appears to be hardly a doubt, As I think of my fizzles and fumbles, I've a lot to be humble about."
