Ed McLaughlin isn't resting on his laurelsor anything else. He sent me a clipping announcing his new appointment as Cape and Islands assistant district attorney. A new career, when most of us are just sitting on the beach. Ed says that in his 51-year legal career he has been sworn into office "almost as many times as I've been sworn at."
Bill Russell writes from Bradenton, Florida, that he and Nan celebrated their 57th wed ding anniversary on March 5 "with a most delightful cruise to the southern Caribbean. Having read the latest news of '42-ers and their retirements: I made it full time in 1967 but did work part-time until 1972 thanks to a very energetic and enterprising mate. I was a 'househusband' before it became real popular! On the matter of the youngest in the class, I don't quality for any honors but put me down for February 16, 1921. Nan and I enjoy this Florida living—25 years after our many years in New Jersey. With two daughters and their families in the Sarasota-Bradenton area, we have no reason to come north. I hope that next trip will be in '02 for our 60th class reunion."
Ed Hawkridge pitches in on the question of who is the youngest: "Sic. Sic. My birth date was July 18,1921. Rusty (Hartranft) is olderthan I am. I think I'm the class baby." Sorry, Ed, that distinction still goes to the Rev. Bill Bishop, who was born May 10,1922.
Dick Higgins sends in a new address. "Even at this age," he says, "we move on! (Jackie, too.)" That's friend Jackie Schorsch. They have gone from Menlo Park to 18150 Viceroy Drive, San Diego, CA 92128.
