Back in the saddle, this time for good. Johanna "Jody" Simpson is staying plenty busy in Brook line, Massachusetts, as the artistic director of the Performing Artists at Lincoln School ( aka PALS). The program offers drama, dance and singing lessons after school to a diverse group of 120 children between the ages of 8 and 13, while drawing from the projects to Pill Hill. Thanks to Jody s endless diligence and energy, PALS now has a budget of $150,000, and has performed locally with the likes of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Yo-Yo Ma, and Celine Dion. She is supported by her husband, Rick, who sings tenor with the Cantata Singers; her oldest son Charlie, who sang at the White House with the Milton Academy Jazz Combo; middle son Peter, who sings with the Roxbury Latin Chorus; and youngest son John, who has sung for the Boston Pops on national television. Say there, dy all know anything off of Pet Sounds!

Down yonder in the Apple, musclebound Doug Peabody has made a successful and seamless transition to his new spot as CEO of Weider Publications, which publishes Muscle & Fitness as well as the women's fitness magazine Shape. One of the original investors in AOL,Peabs is wielding his well-established skills as financier, publisher, Internet guru and networker extraordinaire to strengthen Weider's competitive standing by building a profitable Internet division. No doubt Doug will have to use his old rugby skill to scrum with the likes of Cond'e Nast and Hearst. Meanwhile, Anique and his kids no doubt keep him going at home, as evidenced by the Sigma Nu spirit exhibited by the Peabody clan at the 25th.

Down the road in Pennsylvania, Dennis Moyer has recently been promoted to senior VP of National Penn Banks real estate department. He and his wife, Cheryl Ann, and family live in Fleetwood, home of the band Fleetwood Mac (or was that Cadillac Fleetwood?). Oh, well. Happy lending, Dennis!

If you've caught NBC's and heard the president of the United States (played by Martin Sheen) make mention of his daughter "coming down from Hanover," just be aware that Peter Parnell had something to do with this. With a '74 on the show's writing staff; it's also no surprise that the protagonist is named Josiah Bartlett (who shares his name with the N.H. patriot, first governor of New Hampshire and signer of the Declaration of Independence) and a former economics professor at Dartmouth. Who would have ever thought?

Clairvoyant Bill Carpenter continues to lead Bausch & Lomb to new peaks. In spite of a recent unsuccessful takeover bid for Wesley Jessen, B&L is tearing down some of the longstanding walls for new product development for its innovative vision care products. Over the past two years, B&L (BOL for all you stockpickers) has appreciated by 53 percent, with returns over the past three months at 38 percent, well above the industry average.

Down South, Marye Anne Fox is the president-elect of Sigma Xi, an international honor society for scientists and engineers (not named in honor of the mens fraternity). Marye Anne got her doctorate in chemistry from the Steele Hall gang in '74, and is currently chancellor of N.C. State University. Anationally famous academic, Marye Anne makes many of us "chem" majors including myself, Bob Molinari, Ken Bernstein, Steve Dietz, Gary Nelb, Kevin Squire, Jim Lay, Tom Treadwell and Randy Von Wedel proud. We all can recall the fabulous teaching styles of such greats as Walter Stockmayer, Roger Soderberg, Dave Lemal, Tom Spencer, Gordon Gribble and Bob Ditchfield. I can still see those organic reactions in my dreams....

Me, my official title is now Donald E. Casey Jr., M.D., M.Phil., M.8.A., F.A.C.P. If I can pass the CFA exam, my goal before I die is to have more letters after my name than in them. But you can all still call me Crud. Regards to all '74s.
