A Roya! Win Rowing 41 strokes per minute for the last 300 meters, the Dartmouth men's heavyweight crew won its first Ladies' Challenge Plate at the Henley Royal Regatta in England July 8. The race is the top event for international club and college crews. The Big Green pushed past Eastern Sprint champ Princeton in the final strokes, winning the 2,112-meter (I mile, 550 yards) race by a meter in a time of 6:19. "It was an awesome sprint, but to do that against the strong current is unbelievable," says coach Scott Armstrong. "The only way I can explain it is that those guys refused to lose."
