Is your mailbox overflowing with dark green letterheads these days? Everyone in the class is probably tired of communication from and with the College by now. First and foremost, there is the wonderful class newsletter, the Wah-Who-Whis-per, written and edited by the indefatigable Flint Ranney. If there has ever been a better newsletter in the history of the College, I'd like to see it! Published every month, it really keeps us up to date on all doings of the class. Then there are letters from the College and Jack Billhardt for the Alumni Fund, from Glenn French, gifting, and now from Rosenwald and me about the 45th Reunion. The sports teams and other groups send out occasional letters as well. If you have an interest in your computer, there is the Internet. The College has a fine Web site with all kinds of information on it at www.alum.dartmouth.org.com, and the class has its own page on this site. You can even see the WHW'm advance of mailing if you so desire. And then there are the redoubtable class "discussion" groups always going at each other with all kinds of chatter at class-56@dartmouth.edu.com. Some of it is quite good, some inane, but it is always lively. The same people seem to say the same kinds of things all the time, and if you get tired of them, then you don't have to open their mail. We hear a lot from Art Zich, Fred Abraham, John Parke, Doug Keare, Mike Zissu, Walker Peterson and Tim Fohl on this net, and it was especially heated, even nasty, during the presidential vote recount. But that is what the Internet is all about, and I urge you all to take a look at this site and sign on. The bottom line in all this is that the College cares about you, your classmates care about you, and you should respond to all this attention while you can still enjoy the fellowship. This means getting that Green Card in the mail and checking the top line to say that you'll be at reunion with bells on. So far (January 1) 162 classmates have answered the call, or about one-fourth of the survivors and widows receiving our mail. Seventy percent of those responding attended the 40 th reunion five years ago, so they have been in touch and know what a grand time is in store in June! We want to hear from everyone, ayes, no, maybe or go-to-hell, but take a minute to send me the card so that we know what you're doing. Get in touch with some classmates and make a date to see them at reunion. E-mail, write or call me and I'll help you with addresses and phone numbers. Sorry to report the death of Ric Franz in Salt Lake City, Utah. He played lacrosse and swam at Dartmouth, and was a member of Psi Upsilon and Sphinx. He never married and leaves brother Adolph Franz II in Madison, Connecticut.
