Greetings, friends! In February Drew Spencer moved from San Francisco to Brooklyn because his company promoted him to a position at its corporate headquarters in New York. Drew wrote, "My very first weekend here, Kenny Mitchell and I went down to Washington, D.C., to see Sea Lonergan play in the national championship game of the 2-on-2 Hoop It Up contest. Sea and his team won the San Francisco competition, then were flown down to Dallas for the national tournament, which they also won. They played against NBA legends and NBC later showed highlights of Sea abusing commentator and former NBA player Kenny Smith." Drew said Jay Lavender is busily writing screenplays. He has sold some scripts to major film studios as well as to producers like Samuel Jackson.
Drew sees Drew Kevorkian regularly. They both live in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Drew (Spencer) is learning all he can from Drew (Kevorkian) about music production. Drew (Kevorkian) has a fully operational studio, and the other Drew said he will be finished setting up his studio soon.
In May Jimmy Meyer graduated from training for the Secret Service, Drew wrote. "Yes Jimmy 'Vegas' Meyer might have to take a bullet for the president one day. (I'll refrain from commenting on whether I think he should or not)," Drew wrote. "He'll go back to Vegas and be stationed at the field office in Vegas. We caught up last Sunday and he told me about being on Air Force One and seeing President Bush leave for a trip last week."
Drew also mentioned that Phillip Cherfrere is in Miami, working on getting things going in his life again. He suffered a tough loss recently. Avery close long-time friend passed away. To reach Drew, e-mail him at drew @ tsakemo.com or to find out what's new in his life, visit www.tsakemo.com. I checked it out—it's a
very cool site. After four years at medical school, Sander Schlichter graduated from UNC Med and will be starting his residency in anesthesiology at University of Pennsylvania.
He wrote a short note before leaving Raleigh: "I was recently up in Philadelphia apartment hunting and I ran into Liz Lucarelli, who is a second year at Thomas Jefferson Med. When I told her I would be moving up to Phillie and that my new apartment has a deck, she was quite excited (about the deck I think)."
Sander said he had been hanging out a bunch with Allison Pope, who also lives in Raleigh. He said she works at GE, loves her job, owns a beautiful house and has a new dog, Sophie. She is the lead female vocalist for a band out of Raleigh called the Jeff Mandler Band. Sander said he and Nicole Galanek (another Raleigh resident) are her biggest fans.
Over Memorial Day weeken, I had the joy of attending Ann Icelander's wedding to Josh Freeman in Oquossoc, Maine. The Dartmouth contingency also included Erica Chong, Deb Uchtmann Ronco (with husband Pete), Sarah Hobson, Vas Lakshminarayan, Maura Troy, Jill McCammon, Holly Thomas, Meredith Epstein and Shannon Sullivan '94. Saturday, the day of the wedding, Ann led a big crew (including all of the Dartmouth attendees) on a short but steep hike. After we barreled down the mountain, we returned to Bald Mountain Camps, where many of us jumped into the chilly but refreshing lake. A few hours later, the lovely couple was married under a blue sky on a grassy spot beside the lake. After the wedding, we ate a delicious meal and boogied for hours!
Take care everyone, and be in touch!
