So, I was recently up in Hanover and discovered it has a hip new restaurant, the Canoe Club on Main Street. Word has it that it's popular with seniors, and is giving Murphy's some competition.
Congratulations to the new parents in our class! Kristy (Jarosh) Cory and her husband, Bill, welcomed daughter Emma Louise on April 14. Naveh Levy and his wife, Sarah, who graduated from Brown in 1998, welcomed a son, Eli Gregory, February 14. Naveh has lived in Boston for the past year. In July he and his family are moving to Buffalo, New York, where he and Sarah will complete their medical residencies (radiology for Naveh; ophthalmology for Sarah). Sarah and Naveh met in Boston, and completed medical school together in Washington, D.C. They are doing their intern year in Boston.
Naveh keeps in touch with a number of alums. Stephanie Yu recently moved back to Washington, D.C., to begin a new job. She received her law degree from George Washington University. Ross Hallock is a lawyer in Manhattan, and keeps in touch with Brian Kim and Matt Fuller (as an aside, I recently ran into Ross at a bar in Manhattan). Naveh says Nicole Galanek is still working for John Deere, and just got a great promotion. Naveh also stays in contact with '97s Sarah (McCombs) Scott and her husband, Zack Scott. They live near Hanover, and Sarah is completing her medical residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Naveh says Lauren Baptist' 99 is working with Google, and always has great stories. "I'd love to hear from old friends, so drop me a line at navehlevy@yahoo.com whenever you get a chance," Naveh writes.
Abunch of '97s and a '98 recently flew down to Chile for Dan Jones' wedding. He married Paolo Roca in Zapallar, Chile, about 11/2 hours from Santiago. Dave Jackson, Jay Lavender, Phil Lord, Andy May and Bill Tarr '98 attended the wedding. Word is that Andy, Phil and Jay played poker on the flight down (nine hours of Texas Hold 'Em to be exact). Dan and his new bride live in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Speaking of Texas Hold 'Em, I just played some myself last Friday night with Erica Chong, Steve Lee and a bunch of non-Dartmouth folks. I'm not going to name names, but a '97 did win (and it wasn't me or Erica!).
As you might have noticed, I had a little extra space this column. Please write in with news of the exciting or even quite ordinary things happening in your life. Take good care.
