News on several fronts. From Florida Ed Finn writes that he and Joyce have been living in Boca Raton ("some call it la-la land," he says) for the last 25 years. He retired and closed his cosmetic company seven years ago, and being in reasonably good health they have been able to pursue "our favorite pastime: travel." They weren't able to make reunion because of previous plans to visit the Baja section of Mexico and then their youngest daughter in northern California. They planned to spend mid-July through October in the Northeast, and be in Hanover in mid-August, since another daughter lives in Gaysville, Vermont, just 30 minutes from Hanover. That way they get back to campus at least once a year.
From the other side of the continent, spoke to Bill Mitchell in Santa Rosa, California, and he cited health problems for not being able to make reunion. Bill had been fighting pneumonia for six months in the spring, and Frances has a hip replacement.
Nice news department: Charles Weinberg was one of two recipients honored by Thayer at an awards dinner at the Hanover Inn in the spring as a Sylvanus Thayer Fellow, which recognizes "alumni and friends of Thayer who have given thoughtfully and generously of their time and resources to the school." Congrats, Charles.
And to the southern hemisphere, word from Jim Robinson about what he calls the Dartmouth Antarctic Patagonia Frolic, where he and his wife, Rose-Joan, and five other Dartmouth grads (from the '50s and '6os), traveled with professor Maiysa Navarro.
On a sadder note, Joe McCormack reports from Danville, Illinois, the death of his wife, Eileen, in March of this year after a long illness. Our belated condolences, Joe.
