Chapin Leinbach died gently at the Georgetown Retirement Center in Washington, D.C. He got an M.A. in English from University of Michigan. He served in the U.S. consular service in Cairo and Riyadh, then worked for Arabian-America Oil. Living in Paris, he published an art book. In 1950 he moved to D.C.,writing on industry affairs for Air Transport Association.
Bennett Stein died at home in Livingston, Montana, December 13, 2001, predeceased by two wives. They left five children and cousin John Stein 38. Bennett was a member of DOC and the Canoe Club.
Lou Benezet died in Mill Valley, California, from cancer on January 23. He had a distinguished academic career, his driving purpose diversity in American life. Two wives predeceased him, son Joel '66 in 1963. Four daughters survive. I tried to get Johnny Hardham's daughter to be the Dartmouth presence at the service, but she was in Argentina. Colleagues from Colorado, Allegheny College and Claremont did attend.
Henry Smith died on September 11 in Pennsylvania, per widow Julia. They had two sons, one daughter. Henry was involved in class and fraternity affairs. His lifetime work was in insurance.

Budd Schulberg is back at work after bypass surgery, had hoped to see Jack Patrick at reunion, but jack died in February 2001. Jack was Budd's roommate at 103 Fayerweather.
