I received, and I quote, "Greetings from Peter D. Robinson. It has been awhile since! communicated. After 10 years in the private sector as senior vice president for government affairs with Ketchum Communications, I have returned to Capitol Hill, assuming a senior position in the Parliamentarians office of the U.S. Senate. This gives me the curious distinction of being the first person in history to have served both as a House and as a Senate Parliamentarian for the Congress of the United States. Frequently I see, both professionally and socially, classmate Steve Harris, majority staff director of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. The committee has had a very ambitious hearing agenda with Enron and economic issues. Ted Rhodes and family visited us last summer and made our Capitol Hill home their base for touring the D.C. area."
In other news, Daniel Domjan has been hired by Faith Regional Health Services as head of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at the hospital's new CardioVascular Institute in Norfolk, Nebraska. Dan had previously worked in California and most recently in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. When he learned of the plans for open-heart surgery at this new facility, he was immediately drawn to the idea of helping get the program started and the fact that, "This is a not-for-profit hospital with a distinct mission statement that appealed to me."
I remind you all once again that our 35th reunion will be in June of 2004. We hope that all the "regulars" will try to convince at least two non-regulars (irregulars?) to make the effort this time around. I have dibs on Jon Swenson and Al Sloan. Watch out, guys, I'm hot on your trails! Take care and write.
