First, a bit of news. Jonathan Shuster was recently appointed president of Harmonia Inc., a Blacksburg, Virginia, software company. A co-founder of Harmonia, Jonathan will oversee the development of its user interface markup language and tools that allow a variety of computing devices to communicate with network applications. The appointment is the latest achievement in Jonathans 24-year career in project management, including software analysis, design and development.
As this arrives in your mailbox in June, our 25th reunion has come and gone.
So, except for a valedictory reunion report, this will be my final column. Doug Ireland didn't miss a column in his five years on this beat, and with a little luck, we've managed to keep his string intact.
Mike Carter will shortly become our next class secretary and will assume the authorship of this column beginning in August. In addition to being a leader in Dartmouth alumni clubs in four different states, Mike has contributed regularly to both this column and the class newsletter for several years, so I leave this column in his excellent hands. Nevertheless, he'll need your support, so keep those cards, letters and e-mails coming.
Right now, I'm looking forward to ending my term as secretary as it began, with a hike to the summit of Moosilauke, a night at the Ravine Lodge (23 years and three weeks after getting married there), some whitewater rafting on the falls of the Connecticut, and meeting and greeting many of you under the class tent.
Happy trails.
