When Cynthia Mac Lean recently received her copy of the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine in Beijing, she wondered why it did not mention the Emmy that Lucinda Leach won in September. Lucinda's documentary film, shown on PBS for the first time in the fall of 1998, was titled "A Paralyzing Fear: The Story of Polio in America." The Emmy category was Outstanding Individual Achievement in a Craft in News and Documentary Programming: Researchers. I'm glad I didn't have to pay for the engraving on that one. Lucinda reports, "I shared the Emmy I won (to my own great amazement, I might add) with my co-worker Geoffrey Pingree Max Anderson was a presenter at the awards ceremony, and it was an added pleasure to see him again at the close of the evening." Cynthia notes that Lucinda managed this while raising three boys, Noah, 10, and twins Seth and Julian, 7.

For her part, Cynthia has been living all over Asia for many years now—in Beijing, Shanghai, Seoul and Hong Kong. She has been taking a break from her career as an attorney while she raises two young children, Tessa and Luke, and deals with the adventures of living abroad with frequent moves. Her husband is a bureau chief with Reuters News Agency. Cindy spent New Year's Eve at the Great Wall. In the summers she and family often return to the Hanover area, where they have gotten together with Lucinda's family over the years.

John Jennings reports, "With the recent purchase of a house, I have now fully entered the adult world (at 44!). Other completed prerequisites include being married, having a 13-year-old child to care for (a stepson), working a steady, well-paying job and owning a car. What's next? A dog? As for work, for several years now I have been the lead project manager for the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance—a well-funded non-profit organization promoting accelerated incorporation of energy efficient products and services into the market. Visit our Web site www.nwalliance.org. Or e-mail me at jjennings@nwalliance.org."

Several folks have sent me messages seeking e-mail addresses for classmates. I'm happy to oblige these requests, but we already have what can be a very powerful tool for locating classmates through the Vox Alumni Network. You can access it through the College's alumni Web page. You can search for any alumnus who participates. When you sign up, you receive a College e-mail address that forwards messages back to your local address. Your College e-mail remains the same, even if you move or change your local e-mail address. Vox, however, can only be as good as we make it by signing up. The more of us who participate, the better Vox will be. So sign up.
