If no news is good news, you're going to love this column. Seems everyone is too busy to send me a quick update. Seems I'm too busy to send anyone a note asking for news. Seems like I should begin the column.
Marjorie Markson was named an agent/partner by Keller Williams in Westborough, Massachusetts. Marjorie was formerly a marketing and graphic design consultant. For Marjories sake, I hope an agent/partner is a good thing. Well the news is trickling in. I received a late breaking story of the birth of Valerie Hartman Levy's third child, a baby girl. Baby Levy is, as of this writing, unnamed, though likely is named something as you read this. Baby Levy arrived on April 18 weighing 8 pounds, 2 ounces and joins older brothers Charlie (6) and Eli (4) in the Levy household in Atlanta. Valerie remains very involved with the Brady gun control campaign having been a key organizer for the Atlanta Million Mom Movement, which was merged with the Brady campaign about a year ago.
For those of you who find investment banking humorous, here's a nugget: Bill Budd is on the move from Lazard Freres to become a vice president in a new fixed-income sales group within Credit Lyonnais Securities USA.
Class president Margaret Marder has been active on our behalf and I bet you didn't even know. Well, I'm going to tell you. We will be involved in the Summer Enrichment at Dartmouth (SEAD), run by the Tucker Foundation. Basically, our class sponsors a high school student for a two week program this summer on campus. The student is chosen by his/her teacher to participate and comes from one of several designated schools. The student will take classes, do some DOC hikes and be matched with a sophomore mentor. This exposes certain students to the Dartmouth experience, with the possibility of enticing the student to apply to the College. From the "It's my job to mention it" category, please pay your class dues. We need your support. From the "You may have missed it" category, please be aware that magazine subscription costs are rising. If this concerns you, rest assured that my production costs to write this column have remained unchanged.
Jim Burack is the chief of police in Milliken, Colorado. Thus, to avoid an obstruction of justice charge, I will mention that he sent me a note alleging recent slander by David Searby. You read in the last column about their recent exchange concerning amnesty for Mexican-Americans. Because of word limitations imposed by the College and obvious intellect constraints bestowed upon me, I will not attempt to sort through this mess. I would, however, recommend that Searby obey the speed limit while visiting Milliken. Nothing like a night in the Burack Hotel to clear up any misunderstanding.
Fresh from the "Who Cares" department, another Cold Beer fantasy hoop season has ended. Season-long ineptitude was displayed by Hubes Smith, who finished a distant last. Barry Bass spent a mere six hours a day analyzing statistics to finish sixth. Eric Wilinski rode Ben Wallace to a third-place finish. My fourth-place finish was noteworthy only in that it was one spot ahead of Mikey Lehman, who I suspect is seething cross country. Those of you who wish to rename this league "AXA Losers" will not be acknowledged, though you may be accurate.
Food for thought: For those of you who reached this point, seems like we have a lot of alliterative classmates. Have a great summer!
