I must start the New Year with a confession: "My name is Dick and I'm a computer junkie." After a long-term love affair with my SmithCorona, I have fallen into the addictive clutches of an Apple computer.
An e-mail from Bob Baker announced that he and Becky were embarking on their third cargo-ship cruise. "In 1997 they will be among the seven passengers visiting Mexico, Colombia, the Canal, Ecuador, and Peru during a 40-day round trip."
A Christmas letter from Stace and KayHill recounted their busy lives in Charbonneau, Ore., and also told of three trips to California, Chicago, and San Juan, P.R., to visit some of their children in 1996. Stace had a hip replaced last April and recovered so well that he recorded his fourth hole-in-one two months later!
Another Christmas greeting contained the news from Lew and BeanieJohnstone that they had given up their parttime Florida residence and were staying fulltime in Cincinnati Ohio. They're getting settled and down-sizing in their condo at 3507 Forestoak Court, Zip 45208.
Bud and Helen Bye reported from Rehoboth Beach Del that they had witnessed Dartmouth's one-sided victory over Princeton. Peggy Scott, widow of PeteScott, in Bethesda, Md., normally attended the game with the Byes, but this year she was sidelined with the flu. However, Peggy recuperated in time to join the Byes for the Army-Navy game in Philadelphia.
Here in Sarasota, Don Taber is finish- ing a banner year as president of the local Dartmouth Club. Don and John andMarg Kelley were New Year's Eve guests of Dr. Zeke/Bill Billings and his wife, Dickey, who live in the same retirement complex as Taber. Word has it that the group had a great time and almost made it to midnight.
