I hate it, but I always seem to have to start with sad news. John Magel writes to say that Harry Degkert passed away, leaving John as probably the last of the great class of '35 in the St. Louis area. Anyone else out there, please contact me and prove him wrong. John still plays golf,

sings with a group in nursing homes and gets in a lot of dancing, but swing and polkas are "de trop." Good for you, and please keep in touch.

We also lost Alex Schnee, whose daughter Alix, got in touch. Thanks, Alix, for keeping the class up to date.

Joy and I are now in California for good. I will do my best to keep you all up to date, but unless you keep in touch, I am dead in the water.
