We held our 25th class minireunion at Pierces Lodge the first weekend of November 2002. This has become one of the fondest of our class traditions of all of those that should not fail. Attendees included class president Hank Amon, Jim Griffiths, Bob Blake, Carl Boe, Mike Gonnerman, Ed Keible, Steve Waterhouse, Ted Atkinson, Stu Russell, Mike Bettmann, Steve Fowler, Bob McConnaughy and Bruce Jolly. Although Reg and Nancy Pierce have turned over operation of the inn to their offspring, nothing ever seems to change, and they—and of course none of usever seem to age.

Here are some highlights from the class meeting that weekend at Pierces Sunday morning. First, this was the latest in the year we had ever held our mini, and the weather was suitably icy-cold. Since the earliestyears we have held our mini in concert with Homecoming Weekend, but that event has slowly migrated to later in the fall. As a result there has been increasing sentiment to de-couple the mini from Homecoming and move it back to early in October. For at least one more year, however, the decision was made to continue to hook the two dates together. So for 2003 (mark your calendars now) our mini-reunion will be held Friday through Sunday, Oc- tober 24-26, with Columbia being the featured football game for the weekend. At that time, the class will re-visit the question of de-coupling from Homecoming.

The proposed class of 1965 60th birthday party will center around a Habitat for Humanity or COVER project. It is now decided that we would hold this event the first weekend in August in the summer of 2003 in the Upper Valley. A committee consisting of Messrs Amon, Atkinson, Bettmann and Griffiths was formed to organize this event. Subsequent planning is moving along, and, through the good offices of Rick Mahoney, the committee is homing in on a specific project, such as a barbeque at the Griffiths'. Most of the details will be firmed up by the time the next Alumni Magazine and class newsletter are published.

Class finances continue in good shape. We met our goal of contributing $25,000 to the class scholarship fund. Head agent Ed Keible reported that our contribution to the Alumni Fund for the past year totaled $332,837. from 268 classmates (44 percent of the class). For the current campaign, the Dartmouth College Fund will stress participation.

In other business, Hank Amon reported on his research on the Faculty Mentoring Award, and Steve Waterhouse described plans for the out-of-Hanover mini-reunion in Vail, planned for the weekend of March 7-9,2003.

So it looks like it will be a busy and, we hope, productive year for the class of 1965, with three different gatherings planned: March 7-9, the first weekend of August and Homecoming at Pierce's October 24-26. Hope to see as many as you as possible at these. To all of you we wish you the very best throughout the year 2003.
