Gary Greene wrote: "In addition to celebrating Independence Day on july 4, I celebrated the end of my second week at my new job. Last summer I moved from Wellesley to join The New Power Co. in Purchase, New York, which was an Enron spin-off. To make along story short, in part due to Enron and in part due to other factors, New Power turned into No Power very quickly—it filed for bankruptcy protection in June. Luckily for me, a colleague at New Power recommended me for a position at Synapse Group in Stamford, Connecticut (just four miles from my home in Darien). So, on June 241 joined Synapse, a subsidiary of AOL/Time Warner, as its associate general counsel. As a member of the three-attorney legal staff, I am responsible for commercial contracts, employment matters and supporting our Internet division, and, with time, I will have greater opportunity to provide input on strategic business decisions as Synapse continues to develop new products and marketing strategies." Gary's family—Carolyn, Emily and Alison—are happy that they are not moving again. Michael Rieger moved his family to Long Hill Township (Millington), New Jersey, last year. This was a bit of a culture shock for his wife, Kai, who's a native of Hawaii. Eight-month-old Zachary was thrilled to be teething while mommy and daddy took tests, filled out forms and corrected numerous mistakes by the employees at the Motor Vehicle Services on their way to getting new licenses and registrations for six hours! Karin Rosemblatt was promoted to associate professor of history in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. Karin has been a member of the Syracuse faculty since 1995. Allison (Linneman) Strawn lives in Houston, and had her fourth child, a son, on June 29. Liza Henriquez still lives in Panama and stays very busy working at her family's restaurant business. They have 36 restaurants! Her daughter just went away to boarding school in Connecticut, so she plans to be in New York as much as possible. Liza enjoys traveling to Miami on business. Marie Longo, and her partner, Allison Bauer (University of Rochester '88), became parents of twins Joshua and Rebecca on June 7 Marie just returned to her fundraising work for the Human Rights Campaign in D.C., the nations largest gay and lesbian political organization. They live in Arlington, Virginia. I am sad to report that Malcolm Verras passed away on November 28,2002, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Cape Cod. For the past eight years Malcolm was a director at Fidelity Investments in Boston. In addition to his parents, Hope and Andrew Verras ofWoburn, Massachusetts, Malcolm is survived by his partner of many years, Davin Wedel, of Boston; brother Alexander Verras of Dracut; sisters Constance Geraniotis of Orleans and Katrina Hanewich of Norton, Massachusetts; and 10 nieces and nephews. From Joy Turnheim: "I have some funny memories of him and his humor from freshman year. I was hanging out with Liz Shea and he came up to talk to us and thought that she said her name was Bliss and that I said my name was Joy (OK, so he was 1 for 2) and thought we were refusing to give him a real name so he told us that his name was Ecstasy, and for years he sent Christmas cards with the return address XTC. I can't believe he's gone."
