John Davidsons wife, Betty, tells us of his death December 12, unexpected but peaceful. She enclosed a note to me from John, written a short time earlier, reporting that he had given up skiing regretfully, used a walker, and enjoyed visits from two nearby children and four grandchildren. They've lived in his family home in Pasadena, California, bought back after the war. Nice letter from Whit Daniels, who's moved from Florida to Rexford, New York, near his son. Sadly he has macular degeneration and is legally blind. Now's about time for Cal Geary to wind up his winter stint in Naples, Florida, and return to his South Weymouth, Massachusetts, home so he can import a little more wool and keep flunking retirement.
Here's a challenge from George Blaisi: "As I enter my 93 rd year kicking and screaming I take a few moments to survey the scene. I realize that to the dismay of my family and most contemporaries I am not at all 'au courant' with the dot.com generation. In my humble opinion everything is too damn big, too damn loud and noisy and too damn fast. And I make bold to say that I do not consider my views to be a failing of any meaningful proportion. I do not think my Dartmouth education was lost on me but certainly the values I learned on the Hanover plain are not the values of Washington and many others today." George and I will welcome your comments.
