Ned Disques report: "Peg and I continue in our quiet way. (At our age, what else?) We swim four days a week in the indoor pool in our retirement village. We go out each day at noon for lunch in some local restaurant, and seem to have numerous errands. I'm debating whether or not to try to renew my driver s license when it comes due soon. We have family—including son and wife—in town and have accumulated a small group of friends." Sound like you—25 years ago?
Roz (Bill) Brister tells us that she rode out Hurricane Wilma on the swaying 10th floor of her beach apartment in Jupiter, Florida. It reminded her of earthquakes in Los Angeles. Our condo, 1970-1997, was about a mile north of hers.
Ruth (John Lee) Potter writes, "I came out your way to share the turkey with [son] David and family, including a long walk on the beach to whet the appetite and lots of good wine. I've recently been in Botswana with three bird photographers and two wives, where we lived on a houseboat on the Okavango'River among the reeds and papyrus. It was very peaceful."
My thanks to Sara Barad, Ed Marks' widow, for her newsletter help. She is a Mt. Holyoke graduate with a Boston University masters in social work. She maintained her own clinical psychotherapist practice for almost 40 years. A charming, intelligent, talented lady. Don Allen rec ommendsAmerican Traveler (Basic Books), the life of John Ledyard.
