Edward Ramey joined the likes of Sen. Edward Kennedy when he received the Citizen of the Year Award from the National Association for Bilingual Education this year. Edward was one of the leaders in the recent bilingual battle during Colorado's November elections, which has Colorado as the only state to defeat attempts by English-only advocates to make sweeping changes in its schools bilingual programs. Well-known for his pro bono activities, Edward received the Edward Sherman Award from the Colorado ACLU in 1999. He has been president of the boards of the ACLU and the Colorado Mountain Club Foundation and a board member for Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains. At work, he is chair of the litigation department for Isaacson, Rosenbaum, Woods and Levy.

Our president Dudley Kay has informed me that Rick Willets has been appointed reunion cochairman, second in importance only to world traveler Paul Tuhus. Ricks acceptance speech was carried live on CNN. Speaking of Rick, I got a nice letter from him saying that he had spent a lovely evening with Mark Bankoff and family. Marks two kids, Sarah and Nate, have done yeoman service over the years, carrying the class banner at the Homecoming parade. Rick also said that he and his wife spent an evening last fall at the house of Paul Hemmerich '71 alongwith Allen Denison and wife Martha. "Oregon" (as Al is known) was on the East Coast delivering daughter Annie to Williams College.

It should be obvious by now that I don't have much news, deadline is fast approaching and I am getting a little giddy.

Take care and write.
