A heads-up from film studies professor David Erhlich recendy prompted me to e-mail Gabe Schlumberger to see what he has been up to. Gabe revealed that he works for Pixar in Emeryville, in northern California. Apparently, he just wrapped work on Pixar;s next movie, FindingNemo, which should be coming out around the time this column goes to print. To sum up the movie, Gabe puts it succinctly: "It's about fish. And dentistry. And by the time anyone reads this in the Alumni Magazine, the Disney marketing machine will have Hilly inculcated the entire populace from Boston to Burkina Faso. Savor your fleeting ignorance." You can support Gabe by going out to see the movie. He tells me that despite his suggestion that Pixar list the credits alphabetically by first name starting with "G," we will have to wade through most of the voluminous credits to see his name in 12-point type. In his spare time Gabe has been attending weddings nonstop. He attended a record 10 weddings last year, five of which were Dartmouth weddings and six of which were weddings of ex-girlfriends, proving Gabes a real nice guy.
I'd like to extend congratulations to Malia Brink. Malia attended the University of Pennsylvania's Law School and graduated in 2000.
So I recently attended a Dartmouth Club of Northern California and Nevada Happy Hour with Gloria Chung and was happy to see another fellow '96, Jorge Motoshige, there. The happy hour is good opportunity to meet up with both old and new alums. If you are in the Bay Area, the club meets the second Wednesday of every month at a downtown San Francisco venue. E- mail me if you want more details. It will be good to see you all out there if you're in the neighborhood.
Take care and remember to drop me a line for the next issue!
