In February I had a nice visit from Geoffrey G. Maclay, who was in Hanover to cheer his son, Geoffrey Jr. '69, in an alumni hockey game at Thompson Arena. Geoff remarked that he had been " holding the towels" for that son ever since his college hockey days here at Dartmouth. Geoff had loaded his two dogs into the back of the car and had come from Milwaukee headed to the Cape, stopping off for the game and the nice visit we had.

Arthur N. Nichols reports that his granddaughter, a first lieutenant in the Marine Corps, having just returned from the Persian Gulf, has been reassigned back to that area as a communications officer. When these Notes are read there will be all the more on that.

Just before the mini-mini-reunion in Florida, Tom Armstrong had spent some time at Mayo Clinic in Florida. I talked to him later to find that he and Eleanor were off for New Zealand the next day. The concerns from Mayo were taken care of.

Harris Hinckley was recognized by the Meetinghouse Choir at the First Congregational Church of South Portland, Maine, for 50 years of service and membership. His experience in the Dartmouth Glee Club made his joining the church choir in 1953 a must. Audience members have included some of the more than 4,000 patients Harris, an obstetrician, has had in those 50 years.

The New York Law Journal has an article telling us that the opera Rain by Richard Owen, judge in the U.S. District Court for the southern district of New York, had its world premiere February 6 at Lincoln Centers Alice Tully Hall. He has written eight operas, all of which have been produced. The journal comments that it a rare situation for a trial lawyer and judge to have done so well in music when judges usually write books.

I placed a telephone call to Jack Reeves and his wife, Ruth, had to call him in from working on the prairie flower and grass acreage they have put in around their home in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. He was glad for the rest he received while talking to me but went right back out to work, so he is in good shape.

Do not forget the class mini-reunion in Quechee, October 3 and 4, with Pennsylvania football.
