If this gets to you in early March you still have time to get to the class mini-mini in Florida. The Armstrongs and Whites plan a nice gathering in hurricane-racked Punta Gorda. All you Florida sun-lovers should get there. In addition there is the class of 1944 Elderhostel, March 27-31, at Eckerd College, St.Petersburg. Twenty-two classmates, wives and widows gathered at the Norwich Inn for our annual holiday luncheon. We heard an advance report on the three-month, 'round-the-world trip Vesta Smith and Rosalie Cutter will have started in January. Bob Tirrell and the reunion committee gave us an update on the plans for that event, June 13-15. Nice things happened at the September mini-reunion meeting of the class executive committee. First, Ted Safford and Crawford "Bud" Elder were both named 1945 Man of the Year for their long, continued and effective service to class, College and community. Citations reciting their contributions are in the minutes. We can be proud to have classmates like them. Second, after my report on keeping inactive people on the DartmouthAlumni Magazine subscription list, it was found that we could get the funds from the class endowment to cover that class expense. You should have seen in Rosalies newsletter that Dick "Bull" Hinman and Paul Glover are making plans for a new kind of mini-reunion in September by having it at the Hanover Inn on a Sunday/Monday night instead of Quechee for Friday/Saturday. If you want reservations for the preceding Saturday nightyou should get those reservations to the Inn. I call attention to the error in the new class directory listing my e-mail address as "craigmanz." Please change the "z" to "x" making it read craigmanx@verizon.net. The word comes from the fact that the Cain family came from the Isle of Man, so I am a Manxman. Since I have spsent much time on genealogy I was sensitive to the error. That directory is a great asset. Harry Hampton reports that the 1945 Weather Vane Trust has been used effectively to maintain the weather post.
