Our 55th reunion went off with incredible precision, masterminded by Ray Richard and his Upper Valley class cronies. The head count was 77—only two more than predicted last issue—made up of 45 classmates, five widows and 27 spouses/others. Ironically, the number of classmates attending exactly equals the number who have died since the 50th reunion. We remembered them in a touching service led by the Rev. Lou Springsteen, who pointed out that the best eulogies are often when those closest to the departed share their special insights. Especially enjoyed was the Alumni Glee Club concert in which this correspondent has had the pleasure of participating since its accidental inception in 1994. The old songs with the old lyrics sung by all men brings back floods of memories, particularly for those who were glee clubbers. At our class banquet in the Inn, we were captivated by astronaut Jay Buckey, M.D., and his tales and answers about his mission. A private tour of the Hood Museum, which our class helps support, and the Rauner Library (Webster Hall in our day) were also well attended. The class meeting will be covered in detail elsewhere. Bud Elliot takes the reins and gives the impression that he will run a tight ship. The outgoing officers and office holders were recognized with thanks.

The enthusiasm for gathering like this remains at a high level but it is only fair to observe that the pace has slowed considerably. This was best demonstrated as we sat on the west steps of Baker Library, the site of our class picture, and watched the group who had attended Sonny Drury's Nostalgia Hour approach from their Tuck School location. Any resemblance to an exodus of refugees was no coincidence.

If you are looking for an excellent page-turner to while the way from New York to London or L.A., Howie Hilton's latest, Dreadnought's Curse, is recommended. I got mine from Amazon.

My tour as class secretary is over and I turn this space over to the capable hands of my good friend, Bob Huke. I've enjoyed staying in touch with you. Give me a jingle if you find yourself in San Diego.
