The 2004 College Fund Awards for the 2003-2004 fund year included several for the class of 1964. We garnered the Joshua A. Davis 1927 Award for greatest dollar improvement for a reunion class (comprehensive), and for a non-reunion class (current use). The reunion amount (comprehensive) by the class was $30,308,280. Thank you, members of the class, and thanks to the leadership of Steve Blecher, president, and the gift-giving committee, which included Roger S. Aaron, Sabin Danziger, R. Bradford Evans, Roy J. Lewicki, Peter E. Luitwieler, F. Gibson Myers Jr. and William H. Neukom. Of the 40 alumni of the College who were given a Chairmen's Citation for outstanding service, the class of 1964 garnered seven. Very impressive and a great legacy. Pete Luitwieler, one of those cited (and in charge of planned giving for the class), writes that he has resumed his "teaching career" and is now an adjunct professor at Oklahoma State University in Tulsa. He will teach about 40 stu- dents one night per week with consulting to the energy sector an added diversion. He and Marlene enjoy their five grandchildren, all living within 20 minutes from home. Pete's only complaints are high energy prices, too many political ads and summer heat. Ken Lapine recently published an analysis of the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act of 2003 on Lexis Nexis. Ken is an author on legal matters and attorney for Roetzel & Andress, a national law firm. Ken obtained his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School. Congratulations to Bill Barnet in being elected to the South Carolina Business Hall of Fame. Bill was CEO of William Barnet & Son Inc., a leading processor and trader of synthetic and man- made fiber and resin. Ed Williams, chair of our well-attended 40th reunion and now class president, mentions that each of the retired Dartmouth professors Fred Berthold, Colin Campbell, Gene Lyons, Noel Perrin and Lau- rie Snell, and coach Ron Keenhold, who at- tended the Sunday night reunion dinner, together with their respective spouses, have ex- pressed their appreciation for being invited and having the opportunity to meet with for- mer students. (Professor Berthold gave in- sightful remarks at the reunion dinner on behalf of the faculty attendees; and Professor Campbell was overheard as saying that he still has his grade books for the class of 1964!) Speaking of reunions, please mark you calen- dars to return for Homecoming, October 29- 31. The class of 1966 is organizing a light supperAvine/beer event at the DOC on Friday night from 5 to 7 p.m., October 29, and have invited the classes of 1963 to 1968 ($lO per head). On Saturday, October 30, our class has reserved the Hayward Lounge at the Hanover Inn for drinks and reunion after the football game. Arrangements will be made for a group dinner that evening as well. Please let me know if you plan to attend that weekend.
