First off: The class will have a Cape Cod mini on June 17, a Thursday, at Old Sea Pines Inn in Brewster. A flier with details will be mailed to New England, New York and New jersey '43s. I'm indebted to Bing Donaldson, our new head agent, for much of this column as he has had the delightful experience of making contact with several long-silent classmates. As a sample: John Altorfer is living in Tucson, was turned off by Dartmouth accepting women but has a granddaughter alumna, now in Harvard Medical School, of whom he is very proud! He and three partners had a Chicago brokerage firm and after selling out in mid-19 8 os John ran a tennis facility in Florida before finally settling in Tucson. He still rides horses but needs a boost to the saddle and what made Bing's day was to learn John and family had summered at a dude ranch in Buffalo, Wyoming! Bing also recently tracked down Chuck Longfield in the Cleveland area. Living in a nursing home near his daughter, his ailments are considerable, he still weighs in near 210 and helps less-fortunate patients. He was sorry to miss the 60th but has great memories of the College and past reunions. Four Phi Sigs that Bing asked me to chase down: Powell Groner, living in the Kansas city area informed me he still swings the golf sticks when weather permits and is otherwise busy as caretaker for his long invalid wife; Bob Kerwin, living in Pompano Beach, is not well but we had a brief chat and Bob reminisced about days in the OSS and running into Bud Kast in the wilds of Asia; Bob Stokes, stays pretty active and while he didn't make the 60th, he and wife Caroline recently enjoyed a boat rip down the Main River to Salzburg. Bob is frustrated that he can't drive in his favorite Britain any more; Art Lynn remains active with his own construction business in Corpus Christi and like your scribe is enjoying the experience of a recent second marriage at 80-plus. Two deaths to report: John Koslowski and Robert Craig. Our condolences to their families. Stay well!
