Bill Huffman reported the death of Walt Kelley (obituary in a future issue). "We were high school classmates and roomed together in 311 Middle Fayer weather for three years." Walter Kelley, a former mayor of Shaker Heights and a longtime advocate of regional government, died in his sleep March 24 while traveling with his wife, Patricia, in Taormino, Sicily, Italy. He was appointed mayor in 1973, holding that office for nine years. He was a leading expert on municipal law. He was a trustee of the Cleveland Bar Association. Walt founded the Kelley, McCann & Livingstone law firm.

From the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston: "'The Maker's Hand' is a cutting-edge exhibition that illustrates an entire art movement. The exhibition begins with artists such as Wharton Esherick, George Nakashima, Sam Maloof, Tage Frid and Walker Weed, who were instrumental in the studio furniture movement. Their 'reverence for wood,' demonstrated through the natural look of their furniture, represented much of the furniture being created in the 1940s and 19505."
