As I write this column the Midwest mini-reunion in Chicago is still two months away. However, when you read it, the event will already have taken place. So, for an account of the mini you will have to wait for the next DAM issue. Of course, you may get some semblance of news in 5ifty Joe's next newsletter, if you are not too fussy about accurate reporting.
The first mini-bio is that of my junior-year roommate. Johnny Oakley and Ann have lived in Greensboro, North Carolina, in the same house since 1955. After Tuck School he worked briefly in N.Y.C. before moving to Greensboro, where he joined an accounting firm, then spent several years in CPA. private practice. In 1969 Johnny joined Burlington Industries, where he worked until retirement in 1990. He and Ann have three daughters, all of whom attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill or Greensboro. Ann taught school for 25 years and both are active in their Episcopal church. In retirement Johnny manages to play golf two to three times a week year 'round. Not bad!
Bill Patten, who lives in West Chester, Pennsylvania, spent his entire career in teaching and coaching in the Brandywine, Pennsylvania, school district and at the University of Delaware. He and Mary Jane, who died in 1991, had two sons and a daughter. Bill later married Barbara Elliott, a friend from his high school days. In retirement he and Barbara have traveled extensively in Europe and North America.
That's it for now. How about taking a minute and sending me an e-mail with some news about you or a classmate?
