Happy New Year,everyone! As this new year starts, I thought Id take a look at some of the new endeavors our classmates have begun.
Michael New recently started a post-doctoral fellowship at the Harvard-MIT Data Center after receiving a Ph.D. in political science from Stanford University. At Stanford he kept very busy, serving on one of Stanford s board of trustees committees, marching in a Rose Bowl Parade, having three studies published by the Cato Institute and receiving a master's degree in statistics.
Amit Chibber has a couple new endeavorslaw school and marriage. He's a 1L at the University of Virginia School of Law. In March 2002 he married Karuna Sridharan, whom he met in Boston when she was a graduate student at Tufts and he worked at Monitor Group. In 1999 Amit left for Monitors Asia practice, where he spent nearly three years "living" in New Delhi and Bombay while skipping time zones on an almost daily basis, doing projects across the continent.
Amitwrites: "Now I'm thoroughly enjoying the comparative relaxation of law school, and Karuna is working with the World Bank. It's been a great first year of marriage, especially in this beautiful town of Charlottesville, which we love."
Cat MacDonald Christian also has lots of new adventures. She married Tony Christian on Valentine's Day 2001. On September 13,2002, the couple had their first child, Corinne.
Cat writes: "I'm still working as the facilities manager in Sephora's corporate office. I'm responsible for about 80 stores nationwide. The good part about that is that I can take business trips to places like Hawaii."
Llezlie Greens new news is that she graduated from Columbia Law School in May and is now practicing in Washington, D.C.
Russell Echlov dropped a line recently about his wedding and Rob Leathern's wedding. Russell and Jennifer Pollina were married May 11 on Long Island. Russell writes: "There was a big Dartmouth contingent there including Elizabeth Pollina '00 and her now husband Jay Cormier '00, Nicole Scaramelli, Steve Clark, Steve Salemi, Eric Newton and Kris Jadd, who were all in the wedding party, plus many more at the wedding, including Kerry McCloskey, Joel Montgomery, Pete Martin, Craig Whitmer, Andy Bernasconi, Ranjit Ahluwalia, Rob Leathern, Jenn Clark Bianchi, Kristen Croker Fiordalis and Charlie Fiordalis '98, Patty Jen, Cara Hobbs, Ben Chittick, Misong Kim and Sascha Goldsmith.
"More recently, over Labor Day weekend by the beach in Santa Monica, Rob Leathern married Amanda Bardin. A lot of green around there, too, including Jennifer and me, Joel Montgomery, Doug Vandenberg, Craig Whitmer, Pete Martin, Mike and Empi Morn, Torbs Dimblad, Dickon Verey, Max Swedlow'98, Adam Himoff'98, JeffWadlow'98 and Marc Cohen '98 and in the wedding party was Doug Bernaford '98 and Risana Zitha '99."
Cabell King also has set off on a new path. He recently began a Ph.D. program in theology at the University of Chicago.
Cabell writes: "I have been glad to run into a number of other Dartmouth grads in the neighborhood, including three '97s who have just started at the U of C business school: Blake Shepard, Paul Gollash and Neal Rich."
He says Neal and Mary Ellen Moore recently bought a condo in Hyde Park, where they live with their black labrador.
Congrats to Sophie Billekens-Fennema and husband Bart Fennema, who welcomed a baby girl Lila Mei to the world on November 5,2002. Best wishes everyone for a happy and healthy new year, full of new endeavors.
